Integrated Management of Root-Knot Nematode (Meloidogyne Spp.) Using Fresh Organic Manure and Crotalaria brevidens Intercrop for Improved Growth and Yield of Tomato

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is one of the most important vegetables worldwide. productivity limited by, among other factors, biotic constraints including root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne species) which lower both quality and quantity crop. Two trials were conducted at Horticulture Research Teaching Field, Egerton University, Kenya, to evaluate effects fresh organic manure slender leaf (Crotalaria brevidens var. Benth.) intercrop on management nematode during tomato production as well establish their effect growth yield. Variables measured infestation, plant height, stem collar diameter, number internodes branches, fruits, fruit weight. Use suppressed population by 27.8% 53.5% reduction significantly increased numbers 22.2% 49.7% weight 24.5% 80.4% when used alone or in combinations compared control treatment. The combination goat dung resulted highest increase total fruits 80.4%.
